Factory Can Trias

Factory Can Trias

Can Trias and Bartomeu Camps were the two paper mills in the town. The first was founded by Joan Trias Bordoy in 1882, who, after working in a paper factory in the north of the peninsula, set up one in the town. This factory was passed from father to son and, in 1973, it moved to Palma. Of the factory building, there are vestiges of some paper dryers on the upper floor. Inside there was a stone mill, several Dutch sinks, a hydraulic press, satin finishers and trimming machines. This industry was popularly known as Can Magre, and they made both paper and cardboard.
