Market, meeting point for quality products

Market, meeting point for quality products

Every Saturday, in the Paseo del Rei and in the Plaza del Jardinet —spaces for social gatherings and restaurants— the weekly market takes place where you can find fruit and vegetable products, sausages, preserves, seedlings, as well as clothing and accessories. The market is no longer just a supply point for quality products, but it is also a meeting place for people, both local and foreign.

Sweet fair, the most delicious day

One of the most participatory fairs in the Sierra de Tramuntana is held in Esporles: the Sweet Fair. Despite being relatively new (2005), in a very short time it has become very popular given the numerous number of stops. In addition, it’s one of the first seasonal fairs in Mallorca, since it’s held on the first Sunday in October. In addition to being able to taste both Majorcan and foreign confectionery, the fair is accompanied by a whole series of events such as workshops, conferences, etc.

The burst of life

Sant Pere

Sant Pere

Esporles is ahead of many towns in the Serra and celebrates its patron saint since medieval times on Saint Peter's Day (June 29). They are very heartfelt and participatory festivities, in which the festival, dinner in the street and an attractive program of cultural and recreational activities for everyone stand out. One of the most emotional moments is the celebration of the “Ball de la Filadora”, held on the same day as the patron saint in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, in the heart of the town.

August 15th

August 15th

The Vila Nova neighbourhood has its own festivities (August 15), of a markedly popular nature, with an always surprising program of events and a great outdoor dinner. It must be said that, despite being celebrated since ancient times, it was from 1973 when a band of young people recovered them and since then they have become an unavoidable milestone in the local calendar.

Last Sunday of August

Last Sunday of August

Since the beginning of the 20th century, the people of Esporles have climbed up to s'Ermita (also known as the Maristel·la hermitage or s'Ermita d'Esporles) on the last Sunday in August. For a few decades, this rise has been passed to the month of September, which ends in a collective meal prepared by local chefs just in front of the plain of the hermitage. The day continues with games and popular dances, all in an atmosphere of celebration and brotherhood.

"Ses Someres" return to the torrent!

For a few years now, in the month of May, the City Council has taken a group of donkeys to the Sant Pere stream to clean it of weeds and bushes. With very little time, this day has become a real party, experienced with special emotion by the little ones. The day ends with a popular dance and xeremías songs.
