In 2011 the Serra de Tramuntana was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Esporles, as a municipality fully integrated in the Sierra, brings together the values indicated in the declaration. The environment of this town is rich in architectural heritage, both major (possessions) and minor (villa houses); religious (parish church of Sant Pere, church of Santa Maria de l'Olivar, hermitage of Maristela, etc.); ethnological (fountains, lime kilns, coal silos, rafts, cisterns, groups of swamps, etc.); road (paved roads, cart paths, etc.); immaterial (legends, “rondallas”, traditions, festivals, fairs), etc. To all these elements, obviously, we must add the natural, very well-preserved, healthy and easily accessible thanks to a good network of public roads.
But the municipality not only stands out for what it has, but also because it looks beyond its borders. A good number of routes start from Esporles, connecting not only with the rest of the Sierra and the interior of the island... but also with the sea.
Esporles is, therefore, an extraordinary land to enjoy its fragment of the Sierra and a starting point to discover the rest.
