The sculpture of the filadora, the work of Remígia Caubet (1919-1997) -an artist who had a workshop in Esporles during the last stage of her life-, sits on a stone base inside an octagonal pike. This beautiful work represents a perfect combination to define the essence of the contemporary history of Esporles: the job of the spinner and the water. From the end of the 19th century, the force generated by the water and the entrepreneurship of some Esporles people gave way to becoming one of the most profitable industrial towns in Mallorca. Remember, if not, the phrase of Jorge Luís Borges: "We are our memory".
